Dance Lessons – Learn These Styles First

29th April

When learning to dance people often immediately think of one of two things, the typical children’s dance school type classes such as ballet, tap, and jazz, or formal dance instructions for adults that typically center around ballroom type dancing including such forms as the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, or Rumba.

When considering dance as a formal occupation or even as an enjoyable pastime the best way to start is with ballet. Ballet is actually the center of all dances and can be incorporated into any style from the elegant ballroom types to hip hop street dancing.

All dancing styles will help to develop balance, dexterity, and grace and also give the dancer a sense of camaraderie with fellow participants and an active and socially engaging way to develop their personal lives.

While there are many styles of dance that are interpretive such as African and hip hop, most other forms of dance require a structured design and the learning of particular steps and movements. The usual progression from ballet to other forms is seamless and easy as ballet gives the dancer a backdrop to base all of the other movements on.
Many enthusiasts of the sport of ballroom dancing have a formal background in ballet and jazz. Using the styles and movements of the classical dance arts help to enhance the steps in ballroom dancing giving them a more elegant flair.

Competitions for ballroom dancing can be found globally all through the year and more and more competitions for other forms of dancing are gaining in popularity as well.

Zumba Beto Perez

29th April

Zumba’s fitness creator is Alberto Beto Perez. Beto was born in Colombia, South America and is the founding father of Zumba and national director of the Master trainers team. Beto Perez is also a celebrity choreographer and a Pro dancer. He has done choreography for Shakira and many other celebs. If you wondered what the word Zumba means, it means to move fast and have a lot of fun. His aerobics dance workout incorporates many Latin moves and dance steps like… Salsa, merengue, Flamenco, and Samba. Recently hip hop and other exciting dances have been added to the dance mix.

It was just a total accident that Beto Perez discovered this Latin style dance workout, as the story goes one day as he rushed out of this house to teach his aerobics class he forgot his regular music tapes. As soon as he realized this, he grabbed some Latin music tapes that were in his car and began teaching the class to this music. The class exploded and became the most popular class in Colombia. He named this class “Rumbacize.”

By 1999 Beto Perez had arrived in the United States, more specifically Miami, Florida. There he met two young Colombian entrepreneurs who convinced him to change the name and to begin marketing his fitness philosophy throughout the world. By 2008 the small aerobic fitness company had well over 20,000 certified instructors and DVD sales in excess of 3 million.

(Recently Beto has added different music to the fitness workout, introducing a little bit of country music, funk rock ‘n roll and many other exciting beats.) However, he has also been adding additional products to the companies fitness line. Recently he launched a dance workout for individuals who are complete beginners, never having exercised much before; active older adults and individuals who are physically limited. He called this product Zumba Gold. In addition, another recent release is a product design for kids. With most young children not getting enough physical exercise this new product has received an overwhelming response. The new Zumba kids program is providing children with the ability to exercise and at the same time have fun.

The international market has not been neglected the company just recently opened up China and has representatives in over 40 different countries throughout the world. This Latin dance workout is taking over the world.

The company has aligned itself with Mark Burnett productions (of “Survivor” fame) and Emilio Estefan (husband of Gloria Estefan) to begin marketing the fitness dance products in the Hispanic market through television. But Mr. Burnett is not the only one in Hollywood to have noticed the incredible popularity of this Latin inspireddance workout. Many famous A-list Hollywood celebrities such as Ricky Martin, Eva LaRue (“C.S.I. Miami”), Vivica A. Fox (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Stacy Kiebler (“Dancing with the Stars”), Hunter Tylo (“The Bold & the Beautiful”), and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres have “ditched the workout and joined the party” with ZUMBA. from a small boy in South America to an American success story once again Alberto Beto Perez has proven that the American dream is real. He is a true “rags to riches” success story!

The Guide to Adding Mass in the Off-season

19th April

For a natural bodybuilder, the pre-contest is the roughest phase of all of the year’s bodybuilding.  Your main goal is to lose body fat.  But the secondary goal – and perhaps the more important goal – is to maintain most of your muscle mass while dieting down.  We’ve all heard horror stories of the bodybuilders who cruise through the off-season at a fairly solid 250, but end up a very scrawny 198 when the show day rolls around.  They simply over-diet, or allow catabolism to eat up too much of their muscle.  Of course every effort is made to ensure this doesn’t happen.  And one of the best ways you go do this is to have a pretty decent amount of muscle on your frame to start with.  This involves adding a decent amount of mass in the off-season.  Let’s examine some ways to do that!

Eat More

In the off-season, if you wish to add lean muscle mass, you simply have to be eating more calories.  If you look the same as you did the previous off-season, it’s because you’re not eating enough.  Bump your daily caloric intake up by 500 to 750 calories, and notice the difference.  Remember that it’s okay to wear a little extra body fat in the off-season, as long as you never grow past 20%.

Bump Up The Protein

Most guys you see in the gym – yes, most naturals – eat a maximum of 1 grams of protein per 1 pound of bodyweight.  It is way beyond what the Food & Drug Administration requires, and it’s a ‘comfortable’ level.  Most bodybuilders have no problem downing 3 protein shakes per day and three meals with good protein sources.  However, if you want to stop looking like a 200-pound man eating 200 grams of protein, and if you want to truly give the muscles every possible opportunity to grow, you’re going to need to increase your protein.  You’ll urinate away anything you don’t need, but you sure won’t miss out on any potential growth!

Increase Your Fat

This doesn’t mean you should spend your day consuming unhealthy fast food.  But it does mean you should allow yourself to consume more healthy fats from sources like beef, eggs, and natural peanut butter.  Also, 2-3 fish oil caplets should be taken with each of your big meals.  Fat is required for muscle growth!

Settle Down

One of the biggest mistakes young bodybuilders do in the course of making gains is to be too active in their daily lives.  They work one or two jobs, head to class, participate in some pickup basketball, go dancing at the club, then play some Wii when they get home.  While these activities are fun and should not be halted if you truly enjoy them, you should be aware of the fact that you are limiting your gains by being so physically active.  Re-evaluate your goals and determine if the 90 minutes of pleasure you derive from playing pickup basketball is worth more to you than the extra 3 to 5 pounds of muscle it is preventing you from gaining.  Bodybuilding allows you to gain more pleasure form you life – but sometime being too active with pleasures of live can limit your bodybuilding success!

Break Up Pain Caused be Dealing With Break Up

17th April

Relationships or love is much like a drug addiction. You will go through withdrawal pains just like from drugs. And it can be just as devastating to your life. A break up will cause you more pain than you ever thought possible. If you have ever endured one, you know what I am saying is true.

This loss is a grieving and must be dealt with as grieving. You must be able to look past the pain of loss if you are not only going to survive, but to thrive afterward. It will seem impossible but it is possible to heal and move on.

The misery caused by a break up can be most devastating if it is not controlled and handled properly. The depression caused by the break up can leave you almost decapacitated.

I found it almost embarrassing to feel like I felt when I thought of all the folks in the world with real problems, hurts and pains. It however did little to make me feel any better. I doubt I has you either. So read on.

So what to do?

I know it feels like you are the only one who has ever felt or will ever feel the way you do right this instant. There is an old saying. It may help if you think this thought every time you think of your lost love. “This too shall pass.” Repeat it like a mantra if you need to. The point is do not dwell on what was. This is a time for healing, not dwelling on what was.

Trust me, there is someone out there even better for you. Dwell on that if you must dwell on something. But while you are doing that, spend a bit time analyzing yourself and what you did to help that break up along and fix it if you can. If you think you are or were in love before, wait until you fall in love the next time.

Wayne Dyer once told a depressed woman to go do something, when she went to him all depressed. She asked him what she should do. He simply told her, “Anything. Do anything. Go do something.” And that is so true. I know when I am active I do not have time to think about what was and feel sorry for myself and neither will you.

Go do those things you wanted to do before you got hitched up.

Go dancing.

Date. Date. Date. Just do not get serious too fast with anyone.

Go to the pub, if you like it there. (Don’t drive drunk though.)

If you job will let you go on a vacation, travel and see some new things.

Take a night class at the university.

Go golfing, running, or swimming. Do something active.

Spend some time with those single friends of yours.

The point is to dwell on the good things in your life. Make a list of all the things you have to grateful for. And I mean ALL the things you have to grateful for.

Don’t forget the farmer who grows your food and the folks that harvest it for you and the trucker who brought to market and the market who stores it for you. Or the roads they travel on to take it there or the trucks that does the hauling.

You get the idea. Things you never thought of before and took for granted. Be grateful the time God allowed you to spend that loved one and all the things you learned from them. Be grateful for this challenge and ask for direction on how to make it work to your best good.

Remember the most important thing about this break up is “This too shall pass.”

Think happy thoughts and you will have happy things in your life. I promise.

Shoes: Every Morning’s Important Decision

15th April

Who doesn’t like to sit and look around in the airport? We see so many different people, doing different things. So on my recent trip to Dallas for a conference, I got to the airport early. While waiting for my flight, I was able to sit and relax, listen to my iPod, and people watch.

The one thing that is striking is the number of people who are traveling in what I consider to be the absolute worst footwear available…flip-flops. Sure, they have their place: the locker room at your gym, inside public showers, around the pool deck, and maybe one or two other uses. But absolutely not in an airport. I mention this for two reasons.

The first seems obvious but overlooked. I guarantee if you ask some of these people they’ll tell you it is the convenience of slipping them off to go through security. This baffles me! You mean to tell me that you want to go barefoot through the same path where thousands of people trudge each and every day. Think about it, along with your perfect bare feet walked how many before you with athlete’s foot, nail fungus, warts, or flesh-eating bacteria? (Well, maybe not flesh eating, but you understand…lots of creepy crawly bad stuff) How often do you think they shut down the security lines to give the floor a good scrubbing? Ten times? Five? Even once? Unlikely!! Wear socks people. Most of the time when you wear tennis shoes you know you slip them on without retying them anyway, right?

Second, with the amount of walking in the airports, are shoes without any support or protection the right thing to wear. With all the people in airports, do you want your fellow traveler to step on your unprotected foot, or have the blow buffered by a shoe? This is not just for airports. The same applies for malls, Disney World, Six Flags, and most other places you can think of.

Before our first child, my wife and I took the usual prenatal classes. I think my wife was the only woman not wearing flip flops each class. Coincidentally, she was also the only woman not complaining about foot pain. Ladies, I understand they’re cute and everyone is wearing them. Is that important when you have to sit down or limp around?

The footwear that you’re wearing should go hand-in-hand with your activity. If you need to go barefoot, be sure to protect your feet. Doing a lot of walking? Wear a more supportive shoe. Going out for a dinner and dancing? That’s the time to break out the cute shoes.

Halloween Wedding Theme Ideas

13th April

Planning a Halloween Wedding?

If you’re anything like me, Halloween is your favourite holiday. Costumes, Spooky decorations, hauntings and – of course – all that candy! So when you begin planning your upcoming nuptials, of course you think a Halloween Wedding would be perfect!

So now you know your theme – Halloween – but what kind of Halloween wedding do you want? With such a broad, fun theme, anything goes! Pick a style that suits your personalities and budget.

What does Halloween mean to you? Maybe you and your partner love being scared together – watching scary movies or visiting haunted houses. Or perhaps you are Gothic at heart – loving the romance of vampires and deserted graveyards. Are you pagans who consider Halloween part of the sacred Samhain festival, or do you love dressing up in costumes the most?

I’ve included a few ideas to get you started.

A Harvest Festival.

A fall-themed harvest wedding hearkens back to ancient pagan festivals – celebrate new life and fertility with your guests. Invade a campground for the weekend, and bring in instruments, fire staff, costumes and cameras galore. Build your own stone circle from riverstones and hold your ceremony within. At a harvest festival, the food should take centre stage. Roast meat on the spit and serve with hearty fare – potatoes, home-made breads and, of course, pumpkins.

A Masquerade Ball

For an elegant Halloween affair, consider masquerade ball. Rent an opulent Victorian hall and serve canapés and Halloween cocktails while a string band leads the dance. Inform all guests they are to come in masked costume and provide masks and props for those who forget. Alternatively, you could designate one table as a craft area, and provide scissors, coloured paper, string, glitter, feathers and fake jewels for guests to make their own masks. If you plan on inviting children to your gothic wedding, a make-your-own-mask table will be a hit!

A Horror Movie Night

For fans of horror and splatter films, a movie-themed Halloween wedding celebrates your “unique” interests. Hold the ceremony on the stage of a theatre. After dinner (corn dogs, pizza and popcorn) assemble on the stage for dancing. Project scenes from your favourite horror films on the backdrop, and scatter Halloween props throughout the tables and chairs.

Cemetery Picnic

Perfect for relaxed, gothic weddings held in the summer months, a small church wedding and cemetery picnic create a charming atmosphere. They’re also inexpensive without scrimping on class and ambience.

Many small local chapels have small cemeteries attached, and the chapel services for larger cemeteries are available for wedding hire. After your service, assemble amongst the graves for photographs, then unfold your picnic blankets and enjoy.

Perhaps one of these ideas appeals to you, or maybe you need to do more thinking about how to create your dream Halloween wedding. But once you have a solid wedding theme and style sorted, you can move onto the fun part of wedding planning – choosing the venue, décor, favours, decorations, flowers, cake and, of course, the beautiful wedding dress!

The First Time I Picked up a Guitar

11th April

The First Time You Play

When I was a kid, I was in a band as we all like to think we were, even if we couldn’t really play anything. With two classmates in tow, we played about once a week at my friend’place and made quite a lot of rather strange noises we thought was amazingmusic!! But we were enthusiastic and loved the idea of being “rock stars.”

We never really thought about concerts or anything serious, we just plodded along rehearsing in with our 10 watt amps when his went away and we were skipping class. We had no idea how tone deaf we were and I thought I could play anything, anytime, anywhere. I didn’t understand that I had to play some sort of scale or key!! I just played anything!!!

Eventually, we went to the year 10 leaver’s social at the local memorial hall. In those days, entertainment was always live. DJs didn’t really exist (yes, it was that long ago!) and so bands were hired.

The group that was performing was rather lame, playingtunes not really suited for a bunch of hormonally challenged 14 – 15 year old youths. In fact, they reminded me of the scene in the “American Pie” movie where the band is doing an awful version of “don’t you forget about me” and all the kids are bored.

Some friends at school knew my friends and I had a band and suggested we play. All of a sudden our ego disappeared and we got shy. We’re not ready we said. We just play for fun. Fright entered all of us and none of us wanted to go.

However, next thing we know, the “tough boys” who played football and were athletic heroes came over and told us we should play. We didn’t want too but they insisted. We said no. Then they say “get on stage or we are gonna punched ya heads in.” It appeared we didn’t have a choice.

So with the prospect of our heads being smashed heads and loss of any degree of cool we ever thought we had, we trundled toward the stage. Playing others people guitars, amps, and drums is akin to wearing some body else’s underwear- it just doesn’t fit right!!! But we got up there any way, ready to be booed off the stage and into the dark recesses of the hall. We played and the place went wild and with everybody dancing and yelling and smiling. We thought “hey this ain’t so bad” so we kept paying whatever we knew. Nobody, especially us, seemed to care. Everybody loved it. We kept going and going. The tough boys applauded and the girls smiled. My guitar solos still not in any scale or key but hey, there we were a real band on a real stage!! We were suddenly too cool for school and the “it” thing at school.

What we thought was torture turned out to be great and we ended up getting a gig with the other band. It was the start of a long musical career that still continues to this day.

Why Limo Services are the Best Option for Your Child’s Prom Transportation

9th April

When you are looking to help my your son or daughter’s prom night extra special, have you thought about renting a limo? There are plenty of things that you can do when you are looking to make sure that your teen enjoys the prom, and renting a limo, with the space and the sheer class that goes along with it, will be sure to delight your teen, but did you also know that it could very easily be a gift for you as well?

The truth of the matter is that while their children are off to have a great night of food and dancing, their parents are often at home worried sick! Sure, you trust your child, but you may not trust the circumstances that they find themselves under. Who is driving, and how far are they going? What do you need to think about when they are off on their own? These are just a few of the worries that a parent might face, and some of them can be taken away just by hiring a limousine!

In the first place, remember that the chauffeur for the limousine is a professional driver. He or she will be behaving in a professional capacity and they will be significantly safer than if they are being driven by someone who is younger or less experienced. This alone might make your time sitting at home more comfortable and less stressed out! If you are parent who worries a great deal, hiring a professional driver is something that you need to think about, so take some time and consider what a difference this could make.

You’ll also find that there is a good chance that your child is going to be going in the company of friends, and this is a great way for them to all arrive at the prom together in style. This is a good way to make the night a little more special for all of them and you’ll find they will be quite happy to hang out and to see what’s going on with this treat. Also keep in mind that there will be no chance of them getting lost, either.

One of the parent’s prime worries when prom night rolls around is drinking and driving. You have already told your teen about drinking and driving, but why not give yourself an extra margin of safety? Every parent has nightmares about their child getting into a car with a driver who is simply not safe, and with a chauffeured limo, you’ll find that this is no longer something that you have to worry about.

Getting a limousine for your children when they go to the prom is a great way to give them a little treat and to buy yourself a little peace of mind as well. While their enjoying the luxurious surroundings, you’ll find that you get to sit at home a little easier, knowing that they are going to get to where they are going and back again as safely as can be!

Fish Oil Fat Busters — 2 Easy Tricks To Burn 26% More Fat Per Day

3rd April

Not all fats make you fat. Some fats can even make you skinny! Well, they can help you lose weight and keep it off when combined with exercise and a nutritional diet and attitude.  And “which fats are these miracle fats?” you ask. They’re the omega 3 fatty acids that you get from fish oil.

Here’s why fish oil and weight loss go hand in hand:

  • Omega 3s burn fat by decreasing insulin levels. Insulin tells your body to store more fat instead of burning your current fat as fuel. A study published in the International Journal of Obesity showed that people who supplement their diet with omega 3 increase the number of fat calories burned per day by up to 26%!

  • Combining fish oil with exercise makes you lose even more weight. According to a study at the University of South Australia, people that got omega 3s AND exercise lost more weight than those getting only one or the other.

  • Fish oil helps weight loss by making you less hungry. A recent study showed that when overweight people took omega 3 supplements in addition to following a weight-loss program, they felt fuller longer.

So here’s how you can burn the fat away (26% more per day!) and make it really work:

#1. Take fish oil supplements daily. High-quality proven omega 3 gels and liquid supplements are an easy way to ensure that you get the right amount of omega-3s for your body.

#2. Exercise daily (or AT LEAST four times a week). If you like hitting the gym or taking fitness classes, this part will be fun for you. If you don’t, let’s find something that you like to do that counts as exercising (as long as you do it four times a week!).

These items count as exercise: brisk 20 minute walk during work break, playing a sport (a pick-up b-ball game at the park or gym, a weekly company baseball game, weekend hockey or soccer, an hour at the ice rink), cleaning your house, a hike, boogie boarding, surfing, rollerblading at the beach, chasing after your two-year-old all afternoon, shopping for two+ hours, building a dog house or shelves, assembling a piece of Ikea furniture, gardening, washing and waxing your car, a night out dancing.

Yes, anything that gets you moving (and hopefully your heart rate up!) counts. The first choice we mentioned — a 20 minute brisk walk — is always an easy one to fall back on if you’re busy.

This one-two punch is really a great way to melt away the fat and achieve the flat stomach and lean body you want. So, if you want to burn away 26% more fat per day, start with natural fish oil supplements.
